The Center of Excellence for Food Fortification at NIFTEM is a specialized center dedicated to promoting food fortification in India. Food fortification is the process of adding essential nutrients, such as vitamins and minerals, to food products to address nutritional deficiencies in the population.

The Center plays a crucial role in advancing the practice of food fortification in India through various activities:

Food fortification is a cost-effective and scalable approach to combat micro-nutrient deficiencies, such as vitamin A, iron, and folic acid deficiencies, which can have significant health impacts, particularly in developing countries like India.
